Karuppu Ulundhu / Black Urad Dal - 1/2 cup
Raw rice- 1 cup
Curd - 2 ladle
Peppercorns - 1 spoon
Jeera - 1 spoon
Sukku / Dry Ginger - 1 spoon
Ghee - 4 to 6 spoons
Preparation:
1. Soak Raw rice for 3 hours and grind to a fine coarse batter (kuranai padham). Remove to a container.
2. DO NOT soak karuppu ulundhu. Just wash and grind it instantly to a fine coarse batter (kuranai padham). Just grind to 3/4th of it. (mukal padham)
3. Mix both idli rice batter and karuppu ulundhu batter along with salt and let it ferment overnight.
4. Next day, add curd and mix. Grind pepper and jeera coarsely. Mix this along with sukku powder in the batter.
5. Heat the ghee and pour it on top of the batter. Give a good mix.
6. Pat dosa like uthapam. Flip and cook well.
7. Tasty Karuppu (Pottu) Ulunthu dosa is ready. Serve hot with Coconut Chutney and optionally with Onion Tomato Chutney.
Notes:
1. You can also use idli rice instead of raw rice.
