Ingredients:
Raw rice - 1 cup
Toor dhal - 1/4 cup
Vegetables of your choice - Carrots, beans
Onion - 1
Tomato - 1
Tamarind water -from small lemon size
Salt
Jaggery - as per your taste to balance the tamarind
Butter - 2 spoons
For Masala:
Urad dal - 1 spoon
Channa dal - 1 1/2 spoon
Jeera - 1/4 spoon
Coriander seeds - 1 1/2 spoon
Methi - less than 1/4 spoon
Cloves - 3
Cinnamon - small piece
Hing
Red chilies - 4
Coconut - 3 spoons
Preparation:
1. Pressure cook toor dal for 3 to 4 whistles until it turns mushy. Keep aside.
2. Fry all the ingredients for Masala except coconut in little oil. Fry till you get a good aroma.
3. Let the above-fried items cool. In a mixie add the above-fried items, coconut, and give a run. No water should be added. Should be a dry powder
4. In a pressure cooker pan, add oil and fry onion, tomato, and chopped vegetables.
5. Add the rice and cooked toor dal to the above pressure cooker pan and add 4 cups of water which includes 1/2 cup of mild tamarind water. Optionally add jaggery.
6. Pressure cook it for 7 to 8 whistles.
7. Once the pressure is released, open the cooker, add salt, masala powder, curry leaves, coriander leaves, and butter, and give a good mix. Optionally boil for a few more mins if required after mixing all these.
8. Tasty Bisibele bath is ready. Serve hot with ghee and kara boondhi.
