Ulavalu Chutney | Horse Gram Chutney | Kollu Paruppu



Ingredients:

Ulavalu | Horse Gram | Kollu Paruppu - 1/2 cup

Tomato - 1

Small Onions - 12

Coriander Seeds - 1 spoon

Jeera - 1/2 spoon

Green Chilli - 2

Red Chilli - 2

Coconut Oil

Curry Leaves and Coriander Leaves - few


Preparation:

1. Pressure cook kollu paruppu with tomato with lots of water for 10 whistles. Once the pressure is released, remove the excess water to a separate container. Reserve this for Ulavalu Chaaru | Horse gram Rasam| Kollu Paruppu Rasam preparation.


2. In a kadai, add coconut oil, fry jeera, and coriander seeds.

3. Add half the quantity of small onions and fry.

4. Add green chilies, and red chilies, and fry.

5. Switch off the flame and into the same kadai, add the pressure cooked kollu along with tomato, remaining small onions, curry leaves, and coriander leaves.

6. Once the above mixture cools down, grind in a mixie along with the required salt to thick coarse chutney. Add very little water if required to smoothen the grinding.






7. Tasty Ulavalu Chutney | Horse Gram Chutney | Kollu Paruppu is ready. Serve with hot rice.
