Ulavalu Chaaru | Horse gram Rasam | Kollu Paruppu Rasam


Ingredients:

Ulavalu | Horse Gram | Kollu Paruppu - 1/2 cup

Small Onions - 10

Tomato - 1

Red Chillies - 2

Jeera - 1/2 spoon

Pepper - 1 spoon

Garlic - 3 pods

Tamarind juice - small lemon size

Jaggery - little

Hing

Mustard seeds, Curry, and Coriander leaves


Preparation:

1. Pressure cook kollu paruppu with tomato with lots of water for 10 whistles. Once the pressure is released, remove the excess water to a separate container. Use this for kollu rasam preparation. Use the Ulavalu Chutney | Horse Gram Chutney | Kollu Paruppu for chutney preparation.

2. Crush the tomato into the same water such that tomato juice gets mixed with it.

3. In a kadai, add oil and splutter mustard seeds.

4. Saute the chopped small onions.

5. Add red chilies and saute.

6. Add the kollu water, required tamarind juice, required water, jaggery, and salt.

7. Add the crushed jeera, pepper, garlic, and hing.

8. Add curry and coriander leaves.

9. Once the rasam boils, switch it off and transfer it to a container.



10. Tasty Ulavalu Chaaru | Horse gram Rasam | Kollu Paruppu Rasam is ready. Serve with hot rice.
