White Channa - 3 to 4 handful
Onion - 2
Tomatoes - 2
Garam masala - 1 spoon
Mustard Seeds
For Grinding:
Coconut - two handful
Small onions - 10
Red Chilli - 1
Green Chilli - 1
Garlic - 5 pods
Fennel seeds / Sombu - 1 spoon
Cloves - 4
Cinnamon - 1 small stick
For Garnishing:
Onion - 1
Coriander leaves - few
Lemon juice - few
Preparation:
1. Soak white channa overnight and pressure cook it for 6 to 10 whistles or until it is tender. Set aside.
2. Grind the things listed under grinding to a fine coarse paste and set aside.
3. In a kadai, add oil and splutter mustard seeds.
4. Add chopped onions and saute till slightly tender.
5. Add chopped tomatoes and saute them till it turns mushy.
6. Add the above-ground paste, garam masala, cooked channa, and salt, and allow it to boil. Add water to adjust the consistency.
7. Once the raw smell goes off, add chopped coriander leaves and switch off.
8. Tasty Bread Chole / Bread Channa is ready. Serve it with toasted bread.
Serving Suggestion:
1. Toast the bread.
2. Pour the bread chole on top of the toasted bread.
3. Sprinkle chopped onions, chopped coriander leaves, and lemon juice.
4. Relish the yummy Bread Chole.
