Avul / Atukulu appam dosa

Ingredients:

Raw rice - 3 cups

Avul / Atukulu (Thick) - 1 cup

Sour Curd - 1 cup

Salt and Soda Salt

Preparation:

1. Soak raw rice in water for about 3 hours

2. Soak washed Avul in Sour Curd for about 2 hours. Add water if required for soaking.

3. Grind Avul first and remove it from a container. Add water if required while grinding

4. Grind soaked raw rice finely and mix it with the ground avul.

5. Mix with salt and leave it overnight

6. Next day add soda salt to the batter and mix it well. The batter shouldn't be too thick or too thin.

7. Prepare dosa as uthapam. Pour oil. Cover and cook. No need to flip and cook.

8. You can also make the dosa thin. that is, pour the batter around outside and pull it towards the center making the dosa thinner. Cover and cook. You can flip and cook for thinner dosa.

9. Tasty Avul / Atukulu appam dosa is ready. Serve with chutney and raw onion chutney.

Notes:

1. You can also first grind the avul and once it mashes up, add rice to the same grinder instead of removing avul separately and then grinding the rice.
